Time for GePGeNc (Youthful) Festival in Istanbul!!


Are you a member of a youth organisation? Are you a young volunteer? Are
you a youth worker or youth leader? Do you want to come to Istanbul,
participate in a youth festival, meet with young people from Turkey, who
are active in youth field?

Welcome to GePGeNc 2008!!!
If you are interested, there are three options:
Option 1: You and your friends / collegues can come and organise your
stand at GePGeNc Youth Organisations Fair, where you can present your
organisation and meet with new partners. (deadline: 21st of January,
2008)
Option 2: You and your friends / collegues can come and organise a GePGeNc
Workshop, where you can run all different kinds of activities with young
people. (deadline: 21st of January, 2008)
Option 3: You and your friends / collegues can come and organise an event
in ‘Curcuna’: Culture and Arts Event, where you can present your
artwork, perform and express yourself. (deadline: 21st of January, 2008)

Information on GePGeNc FeSTiVaL
The non-profit festival for youth NGO’s and young people, GePGeNc
FeSTiVaL will be held the second time between 11th-16th April 2008 at
santralistanbul (www.santralistanbul.org). Theme for GePGeNc, is “being
neighbours”. The festival that will welcome activities organised by
international participants as well, will involve many different actions,
all organised voluntary based:

Workshops:
Workshops on issues such as youthwork, human rights, photography,
training, politics etc. are the meeting points where innovative ideas or
performances are developed and enjoyed together with the participants.

Youth Organisations Fair:
The fair is a space for young people to meet youth organizations or vica
versa. Associations, foundations, movements, initiatives, nameless, etc.
All will be here. And not only from Turkey, many youth organisations from
abroad are participating in order to introduce themselves and meet with
the others. Various surprise activities will be awaiting you in the fair.
The fair will take place between the 12th and the 13th of April.

Curcuna: Culture and Arts: Art performances and shows like music and dance workshops, theatre and
musical acts, exhibitions, concerts, parties etc. initiated by or for
young people take place within the scope of Curcuna.

Best Practice Conference:
This is an opportunity to share your previous work if you think you
organized a model project, campaign, training, lobbying activity, etc.
that had been succesful and had positive outcomes. If you want others to
multiply what you have done, this is the place for you. Working language
will be Turkish (only consecutive translation may be provided).

Forum:
At the Forum, young people and youthwork in Turkey are discussed and
policy proposals are developed by youth organizations. A common
declaration will be be submitted to the public . This is your place to
bring your experience if you have something to say about youth work
development in Turkey. Working language will be Turkish (and yes,
consecutive translation is a possibility).

Some questions, some answers:
- What are the topics that you can choose, in order to apply to organize
an activity at GePGeNc?
You can choose every issue, if you think that this issue would be of
interest for the youth. From issues of common discussion like education,
health and environment, to issues like youth organizations, youth
policies…from acquiring skills like glass painting, dancing, shooting
documentaries…to issues on the agenda like the movement against war.
- Where can I find the application forms and information about the
festival?

- Who can apply to organize an activity GePGeNc?
Youth organizations, youth related organizations (such as youth centers,
etc.) and the young people. A youth organization (association, foundation,
university club, plarforms etc.) or a group of young people can use this
application form in order to be in GePGeNc Programme.

- Who will evaluate the applications?
Applications will be evaluated by the Organization Committee and will be
replied until February 20, 2008. You can access the full list of the

- What is the time duration of an activity? What are the facilities for
the place the activities will be organized in?
People who want to organise an activity, should specify materials and
facilities needed during the activity in the application form. After the
Organization Committee evaluates the applications, the needs like time
duration, place, materials will be arrangedand decided together with the
applicant.

- How many people can organise an activity together?
There is no limitation. However, the festival budget supports only two
people per activity as for food and accommodation.
- Is there any financial support?
Festival budget can cover food and accomodation for the whole duration of
the festival, for 2 people per applicant. Unfortunately, we can not cover
travel costs. In case you want to apply to a fund or to your embassy, we
can support you by invitation letters. Besides, in coordination with you,
we always have the option to contact your Embassy anyway, in order to to
have you here in Turkey.
